Santa Clara Valley Wineries
If you’re visiting the Bay Area and don’t have a chance to make it to Napa or Sonoma to enjoy some of the region’s wine tasting, you might opt instead to pop over to Santa Clara Valley where three wineries recently won Best-of-Class awards at the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC) with awards being handed out on January 7, 2011.Considering the competition had entries totaling almost 5000, the awards honored to Santa Clara Valley are especially noteworthy.

- Castillos Hillside Shire Winery (Best-in-Class)
- Jason-Stephens Winery (Best-in-Class)
- Aver Family Vineyards (Silver medal)
- Creekview Vineyards (several Silver and Bronze medals)
- Fortino Winery (Bronze medal)
- Guglielmo Winery (Gold, Silver, Bronze medals)
- Kirigin Cellars (Gold, Silver, Bronze medals)
- Martin Ranch Winery (Silver and Bronze medals)
- Muccigrosso Vineyards (Gold and Silver medals)
- Sarah’s Vineyard (Gold and Silver medals)
- Satori Cellars (Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals)
- Storrs Winery (Silver medal)
- Sycamore Creek Vineyards (Gold and Silver medals)
The public tasting for these (and many other) wines will be on February 19, 2011 at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco between 2pm 5pm (tickets are 65 in advance/80 at the door) should you be around during that time.If not, why not plan a trip direct to any of the wineries in Silcon Valley for your own private tastings and personal rankings.
